Family History
Pakula's Bakery™ family recipes have been handed down by eight generations of bakers dating back to the early 1800's.In 1929, Max Pakula, and his wife Ray, came to America from Eastern Europe with their baking parents and settled in The Bronx.
For the next twenty-three years Max and Ray worked for Ray's family bakery business. Then, in 1952, in pursuit of the American dream, they opened Pakula's Bakery in the Bronx. In 1954, their son Bennett Pakula joined the family business and together they built their New York bakery into a New York landmark.
Pakula's, a kosher bakery, was famous for its delectable baked goods including rye, corn and pumpernickel breads, specialty cakes, (their coffee cake was legendary), pies, cookies, and pastries, but Pakula's most requested item was Rugelach.
In 1962, Max, Ray, Bennett and his wife Loretta moved their family and their successful Bronx bakery to Spring Valley, New York. People came from far and wide to buy their baked goods at Pakula's, often lining up around the block until their number was called. The business flourished. Today, Bennett's son Andy is continuing the family tradition by bringing Pakula's Bakery products to you..
Now about the Rugelach… you simply won't find a better Rugelach anywhere and in so many varieties. We can't give away our Rugelach recipes, but you can enjoy these special treats any time for breakfast, as a snack, or for dessert.
Don't just order enough for your family... Pakula's Bakery Rugelach is a terrific gourmet food for gourmet gift giving too!
